Study Links Monsanto’s Roundup to Autism, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s  A new review of hundreds of scientific studies surrounding glyphosate—the major component of Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide—sheds light on its effects within the human body. The paper describes how all of these effects could work together, and with other variables, trigger health problems in humans, including debilitating diseases like gastrointestinal disorders, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease.( abridged from news article by GENNA REED ECOWATCH / NEWS ANALYSIS http://www.nationofchange.org/study-links-monsanto-s-roundup-autism-parkinson-s-and-alzheimer-s-1367764115

In this paper (see link below to entire study) Glyphosate’s Suppression of Cytochrome P450 Enzymes and Amino Acid Biosynthesis by the Gut Microbiome: Pathways to Modern Diseases by Anthony Samsel  and Stephanie Seneff  Published: 18 April 2013 in Special Issue Biosemiotic Entropy: Disorder, Disease, and Mortality , the authors  call for more independent research to validate their findings, stating that “glyphosate is likely to be pervasive in our food supply, and contrary to being essentially nontoxic, it may in fact be the most biologically disruptive chemical in our environment.” If the body of independent research on GE foods and the herbicides used with them shows one thing, it is that there are unanswered questions begging for unbiased research. And while these questions remain unanswered, Americans have the right to know how their food was produced.

Ask your representative to join Peter DeFazio and the other 66 co-sponsors and support the DeFazio bill, HR 1699 the Genetically Engineered Food Right-to-Know Act, instead and provide labeling of GMO foods that maintain the threshold limits and other stipulations that the individual states have been lobbying for.

Defeat Pompeo’s “Dark Act” HR 4432.  Support HR 1699, introduced by Peter DeFazio and NOT the misleading HR 4432.

Not one study has proven that GMOs are safe for humans to consume. The so called “safety”studies that Pompeo and friends allude to actually show otherwise and raise some serious questions. As the Health Subcommittee of the United States here’s some facts to consider: Genetically engineered crops, glyphosate and the deterioration of health in the United States of America

Tell your representative we need toxicology studies and allergen studies the US is lax on requiring. Even the EU requires toxicology studies but even theirs have not been completed on combined stacked traits of these GMO crops. The government has not required studies on toxicity of the glyphosate and all the other chemicals used in the herbicide Round Up that most of the GMO crops are.

Independent studies show these “inert ingredients” aren’t inert at all and are 1,000 times more toxic than RoundUp alone. How does this toxic combination affect our health when consumed in almost every processed food? Did you hear that glyphosates were found to bio-accumulate in human tissues, even in mother’s breast milk? Yes, the biotech companies mis-marketed their product to you when they told you it wouldn’t do that. I’m sure you can understand the implications of health and safety regarding bio-accumulating toxins.

When the decision was made to release GMOS to the public in 1992 without mandatory testing or labeling, it was the senior scientists at the FDA who objected to this. They were overridden by their non-scientist superiors. In part for this reason there is no mandated way to report problems with GMOs to the FDA as there is with drugs.

Congressional hearing for H.R. 4432, is a clear and imminent danger to food safety regulations as well as state labeling of GMO foods.  During the hearing for congressional hearing H.R. 4432, lawmakers laid the ground for allowing GMO foods to be labeled “natural.” One by one, the people in the room parroted Monsanto’s worst lie of all—that GMO foods are “perfectly safe.” We need your help to #EndMonsantoLies.  And once more, they did it with lies. They lied about the impact on farmers of their corporate system of patented seeds and expensive herbicides. They lied about the cost to consumers and retailers of a simple line on a label.  They lied about the impact of GMO foods, which are nothing more than pesticide-delivery systems, on your health  There is long fight ahead of us as long as Washington bureaucrats remain indentured to Monsanto and Big Food. The good new is there art hundreds of thousands of people who are not buying Monsanto’s lies. We need you in this movement. We need you to help grow this movement. We need your help to #EndMonsantoLies.  (abridged from an article by Ronnie Cummins National Director, Organic Consumers Association)  http://www.gmofreepa.org/2014/12/07/decision-makers-pa-hr4432-dark-bill/#.VKAZe53wAA https://www.congress.gov/bill/113th-congress/house-bill/4432

Introduction. Harmful effects of exposure to pesticides during critical developmental stages are becoming increasingly evident, and consequently, may significantly contribute to the rise in chronic diseases later in life such as cancer, infertility, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and obesity, but also in psychiatric disorders including schizophrenia, mood disorders, and autism spectrum disorders (Barouki et al., 2012). There is a growing interest in the range of alterations, which pre- and postnatal exposure to pesticides may produce on behavioral, emotional, and cognitive skills (Julvez and Grandjean, 2009). Previous studies reported that prenatal urinary measures of pesticides exposures were associated with increased abnormal reflexes in human neonates living in an agricultural community (Young et al., 2005). In line with this, prenatal exposure to some pesticides was associated with both psychomotor and mental developmental delays in young children (Rauh et al., 2006). Further, prenatal pesticide exposure has been associated with Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) (Eskenazi et al., 2007).

Organophosphorus pesticides (i.e., compounds containing carbon–phosphorus bonds) are the most widely used pesticides in the world and comprise nearly 40 different chemical substances registered by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) (http://www.epa.gov). According to the latest US EPA survey, glyphosate, a well-known compound in the organophosphorus family, was the most used herbicide in 2007 (EPA, 2011). As glyphosate-resistant weeds have begun to develop around the world (Cerdeira and Duke, 2006), herbicides containing glufosinate ammonium (GLA, another organophosphorus compound) will probably soon become the best alternative for treating glyphosate-resistant crops, and will therefore be used massively for years. To cope with this, many crop varieties have been genetically engineered to be GLA-tolerant (Ay et al., 2012). Accurate assessments of the adverse effects of GLA must therefore be conducted, in particular during the highly sensitive early stages of the life cycle.

Dr Stephane Seneff of MIT predicts that at the current rates and usage of glyphosate (used in Round-up), one in 2 kids will be autistic by the year 2025. Now a study shows that glufosinate ammonium (an active ingredient in several nonselective herbicides such as Basta, Rely, Finale, Ignite, Challenge, and Liberty) causes the same issues. CIFA & Health Canada are dropping the ball on current safety testing to assess risks of pesticide exposure during critical developmental periods.

Genetically engineered crops, glyphosate and the deterioration of health in the United States of America . A huge increase in the incidence and prevalence of chronic diseases has been reported in the United States (US) over the last 20 years. Similar increases have been seen globally. The herbicide glyphosate was introduced in 1974 and its use is accelerating with the advent of herbicide-tolerant genetically engineered (GE) crops. Evidence is mounting that glyphosate interferes with many metabolic processes in plants and animals and glyphosate residues have been detected in both. Glyphosate disrupts the endocrine system and the balance of gut bacteria, it damages DNA and is a driver of mutations that lead to cancer.
