Hebraic and Biblical Elements in Herman Melville’s Moby Dick. was selected for inclusion in the Melville Society Archive Research Library of the New Bedford Whaling Museum in the Melville section.

Moby Dick  symbolizes the prophetic journey of American industry to conquer the natural world with devastating results. In  1854 America with it’s beginnings of capitalism , Herman  Melville, in Moby Dick  warns, that if man does not respect nature and the environment, the end could be calamitous for man, if society continued to strive to dominate and subjugate nature  oblivious of the cost. Sarasota County, Florida USA, made history on September 28,2010 by acting in the best interest of its citizens and, based upon the Presidents Cancer Panel Study and the EPA announced phase out of certain pesticides to protect children, the county commissioners passed a resolution advocating that the Precautionary Principle be used for pesticides by its citizens. Where are the scientific studies based on long term human clinical trials of the potential adverse effect of GM foods on human health. FDA should also develop clinical trials to scientifically determine whether GMO Crops can have any potential adverse effects on reproduction in humans. The Precautionary Principle is what needs to be applied to GMO Foods until all the unanswered questions are scientifically addressed.

Hormones in DAIRY/MEAT Products Be cautious with dairy and beef products from cattle which had been fed with hormones. In addition to hormones used to increase milk production (rBGH / rBST), there are six hormones approved for use in beef cattle. Until all scientific research on potential adverse health effects on two of these hormones, are completed, Be cautious if their residues may be present in meat.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has identified a list of 134 chemicals that will be screened for their potential to disrupt the endocrine system. Endocrine disruptors are chemicals that interact with and possibly disrupt the hormones produced or secreted by the human or animal endocrine system, which regulates growth, metabolism and reproduction. Administrator Lisa P. Jackson has made it a top priority to ensure the safety of chemicals, and this is another step in this process.  “Endocrine disruptors represent a serious health concern for the American people, especially children. Americans today are exposed to more chemicals in our products, our environment and our bodies than ever before, and it is essential that EPA takes every step to gather information and prevent risks,” said EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson. “We are using the best available science to examine a larger list of chemicals and ensure that they are not contaminating the water we drink and exposing adults and children to potential harm.”
